From the pre-tv days, a programme for a variety concert staged at Corporation Hall, West Row, Stockton on Tees, 11 October 1951. There have been lots of reminiscences about Pete’s Snack Bar, so it is good to see his advert on the back page. 12/06/2007 15:49:46

Joan Holden - I wonder if you were related to the Mrs John Sparks who appears on the front page of this programme as President of the welfare organisation ? 19/06/2007 12:09:18

In 'The Programme' listed, Young Singers - John Sharrocks. I seem to remember the same name and a singer from Richard Hind. Am I right? He was I think in the year below me which would be 1950-55.10/03/2010 16:18:37

Yes Bob, John Sharrocks had a wonderful rich 'boy soprano' voice. A very able musician.11/03/2010 14:42:40

Others listed on the programme include well known singers of that time. Contralto Olive Coulson and tenor Fred Matson (St Peter's Church choir) were local regulars in concerts.11/03/2010 14:47:44

Although not on this programme I remember another boy singer by the name of John Blakey. His Father was the leader for Head Wrightsons Band. After leaving school which I think was the Holy Trinity he worked at Head Wrightsons in the Labs and later in the Bridge Yard X-Ray Department.11/03/2010 19:19:19
